Nico Fyfe - OAR 105.4 FM, Dunedin
In April we travelled to Otago to meet Nico Fyfe at OAR (Otago Access Radio) and what a fantastic star he was.
Nico might only be (almost) 9 but you would be excused for thinking he was much older. Especially when you hear him talk. He loves big words and he uses them well!
You can watch the Suzy & Friends YouTube segment, staring Nico, HERE
Nico is such a talented and amazing young man - we look forward to hearing of his successes!
This was Nico's first time in a radio studio but he relaxed into the role of co-host very easily. Maybe it's because of the drama classes he takes each week? Nico has a fascination with long words. He and his friends try to find new ones to use, and he introduced us to one of the longest words in the dictionary!
Floccinaucinihilipilification. He might have had trouble spelling it but he remembered it correctly. (Floccinaucinihilipilification means the act of describing something as unimportant or of no value) Nico and his classmates, last year, created a CD with the help of the music teacher - Robert Scott of The Clean!
Nico tells us about the song he wrote which features on the CD and how the project came together. Nico got to meet Phil, the Suzy & Friends sound engineer, but he's quite familiar with lots of things to do with recording and sound and music - his dad is in a band (Tahu and the Takehes) and he's learning how to play the bass guitar, himself.
